The Department of Optometry & Vision Sciences operates the University of Melbourne EyeCare practice which offers patient care primarily for University staff and students, but is also open to the general public and for specialist referral by other practitioners. The practice is located on Swanston Street, immediately opposite University Gate 3 (pedestrian entrance).
The following great benefits apply to University of Melbourne students and their families:
30% discount for students and 25% to students' families applies to spectacle frames and lenses, and contact lenses. There is no charge for eye examinations and the fee for contact lens fitting and after-care visits (normally $70-$100) is waived on all teaching clinics (final year optometry students under supervision of experienced practicing optometrists).
